Nicht nur f\u00fcr die Skater ist dies der Wendepunkt, sondern auch f\u00fcr die Camper. Aber bevor Sie hier umdrehen und (\u00fcber Bartlehiem) zum Ziel nach Leeuwarden fahren, gibt es noch viel zu entdecken!<\/p>\n<p>Dokkum ist nicht nur eine sch\u00f6ne Stadt, auch die Vergangenheit will hier erforscht werden. Eines der ber\u00fchmtesten Ereignisse in der Geschichte von Dokkum ist die Ermordung von Bonifatius im Jahr 754. Er war nach Dokkum gekommen, um die Einwohner zu bekehren. Die Leute waren dar\u00fcber jedoch nicht sehr erfreut, und letztendlich wurde Bonifatius ermordet.<\/p>\n<p>Dokkum erhielt die Stadtrechte im Jahr 1298. Rechtsprechung, Zollrecht und Marktrecht sorgten daf\u00fcr, dass Dokkum zu einer wohlhabenden Stadt wurde. Ein weiterer Faktor f\u00fcr den Wohlstand der Stadt war, dass sich 1597 die Admiralit\u00e4t von Friesland und Groningen in Dokkum niederlie\u00df. Die Admiralit\u00e4t kann mit der heutigen Marine verglichen werden. Sie befassten sich mit dem Handel, der Sicherung der Schifffahrt, dem K\u00fcstenschutz und der Kriegsf\u00fchrung auf See. Als der Meeresarm bei Dokkum verschlammte, ging der Wohlstand zur\u00fcck und die Admiralit\u00e4t zog nach Harlingen um. Im Zentrum von Dokkum befindet sich das Admiralit\u00e4ts Haus, welches heute als Dokkumer Museum dient. Die Admiralit\u00e4ts-Tage finden ebenfalls j\u00e4hrlich statt. Dieser letzte Brunnen ist sogar ein echter Eisbrunnen und schaut jeden Tag anders aus. Die Menge des Eises am Brunnen h\u00e4ngt ab von Sonne, Feuchtigkeit, Temperatur, Wind und Niederschlag. Der Eisbrunnen wurde von Birthe Leemeijer entworfen. Im Herbst f\u00e4rben sich die B\u00e4ume in der Umgebung des Brunnens rot, zum Gedenken an Bonifatius und seine Anh\u00e4nger.<\/p>\n<p>Der Stadtspaziergang durch Dokkum beginnt ebenfalls am Brunnen. Sie wandern eine Weile entlang Festung von Dokkum und kommen an den beiden noch aktiven Windm\u00fchlen vorbei. Sie werden auch den Wendepunkt der Elf-St\u00e4dte-Tour passieren. Dieser Punkt ist durch B\u00e4nke in Form von friesischen Schlittschuhen gekennzeichnet. Fr\u00fcher war dies der einzige Ort, an dem man die Bonifatiusquelle mit heiligem Wasser finden konnte. Zum Teil auf Initiative des Karmelitenpaters Titus Brandsma (den wir aus Bolsward kennen) wurde hier eine Kapelle errichtet. In der Kapelle k\u00f6nnen Sie auf einer der B\u00e4nke Platz nehmen und einen Moment der Besinnung einlegen. Im Prozessionsgang in der Kapelle wird die Geschichte von Bonifatius dargestellt.
