A good cause

Maarten van der Weijden established his own charity, the Maarten van der Weijden Foundation, in July 2017. With this foundation he hopes to improve the lives of former, current and future cancer patients.

The money the foundation raises is used for scientific cancer research and cancer-related projects so that people with cancer can receive the right treatment and improve, their chances of a cure.

The Maarten van der Weijden Foundation is of course inseparable from the Elfstedentocht, after Maarten personally swam it. You don’t have to follow in his footsteps, but you too can make a contribution to the foundation. We ourselves donate a contribution to the foundation with every full stamp card. You can make additional donations through his website if you wish.
