A royal story: the W.A. van Buren Bill & King’s Day in Dokkum

Last Friday we received a special collector’s item on behalf of the Motorhome Eleven Cities Tour: the W.A. van Buren Biljet. A nice recognition of our involvement in the Eleven Cities Tour – and above all, a unique story that we are happy to share with our motorhome owners.

A story that coincides perfectly with Koningsdag 2026 in Dokkum – the place where history, experience and Friesland come together.

The story behind the W.A. van Buren Note

Did you know that our king rode the 1986 Elfstedentocht … just as one of us?
Under the name W.A. van Buren, without notice, without privileges.

Among thousands of other ice skaters, he rode the draft anonymously. That very moment – in which he became part of the crowd – grew into an almost legendary story in Dutch sports and royal history.

The new W.A. van Buren Biljet brings this story to life in a special way.

Not a souvenir, but a piece of history

The bill is not a means of payment, but a highly designed collector’s item.
Made with techniques normally used only for real banknotes.

The result?
A unique object at the intersection of design, history and experience.
Not just a keepsake, but something you first admire … and then truly understand.
