All about the stamping posts and RV sites

Harlingen

The first city for us is Harlingen, the start of our tour, the city on the Wadden Sea. On the Wadden Sea you will also find the first camper place at camping Zeehoeve. The campsite is literally on the wadden dike, what a place! You step off the campsite, climb up and stand by the sea.

The campground itself is spacious and has plenty of room for RVers. The fields are surrounded by trees, so you are nicely sheltered. At the edge of the campsite you even have the real Elfstedenroute! So boating, supping or canoeing; you can do it all from your spot there.

This camper place is equipped with all conveniences, toilets, showers, everything is at hand.
Harlingen itself is 2 km away and you walk or bike back through the wadden dike into town. There is much to see and experience in Harlingen, also many events are organized in this vibrant city. I myself am a huge fan of Harlingen because I love the sea so much. So for me this is a wonderful place to stay! At De Zeehoeve we also get our first stamp by the way; we have officially started πŸ™‚

In Harlingen, it’s a lot of fun to drive by the tile factory during your route, you won’t get a nicer story than that. The craft, the love for their products … really fantastic!

Franeker, Dokkum and Leeuwarden

The second city we visit is Franeker, here we get our stamp at the Planetarium. Do you have time? Then step inside and check out the museum at your leisure, because a visit here is one you won’t soon forget. Unfortunately for us time was too short, but we will definitely come back.

Stamp number 3 we get this day in Dokkum. From Franeker to Dokkum is a bit of a drive, but we love taking the back roads in our camper! In Dokkum we of course also get a stamp and we do that at KB Foods, where we also have a delicious lunch on their terrace.

At the end of day 1 we arrive in Leeuwarden. Here is our first night’s stay at RV park Leeuwarden. Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland that has grown tremendously in the last few years in the bustling part; you don’t want to miss this city!

The RV site is on the edge of town, on the water and again with spacious, beautiful spots. We park our camper also at the water and enjoy the tranquility and the setting sun in the evening. Margreet of Camperplaats Leeuwarden shows us everything and explains everything. You can very conveniently find everything yourself in the ‘trustbox’. Here is all information of this camper place, Leeuwarden itself and the environment. Also you get many discounts by the key that you get if you stay here, including at the Jumbo where you can get free sandwiches. What possibilities this way! Camping is completely new to us and we are amazed with what is possible and how everything is arranged, top!

You will also find, for example, a “Go” scooter, which you can rent and ride right into town. We have our bikes with us and cycle from this place in 15 minutes into the center of Leeuwarden. Also you can get your stamp at this camper place, for us number 4!

Sneek, IJlst, Sloten and Stavoren

The second day we go first to Sneek where you find at camping De Domp also such a beautiful camper place (and stamp post) of the camperelfstedentocht. It is a place on the water, near the marina with beautiful spacious places in the middle of the green. Well outside the center, but in 15 minutes you walk there, so ideal! Also all facilities are here again, toilets, showers, perfect. We go boating from here, you can rent them at the opposite restaurant De Kajuit. So also this way you can get into the center πŸ˜‰

Via Sneek we get our stamp in IJlst at eatery De Utherne (where you can also find the town’s beautiful fountain, by the way!) and after IJlst we get our next stamp in Sloten at the local bakery there.

Our last stop today is in Stavoren at Marina Stavoren buitenhaven, this place is also affiliated with this camperelfstedentocht. They are working on the camper places, so we are in the parking lot next to it, but still a nice place. Near the water, the IJsselmeer is at our feet. Also at our feet is De Potvis, a delicious restaurant with terrace on the water, here you want to stay! Our spot is spacious (it is not very busy right now) and there are showers and toilets again. There is also a playground for the kids! So a nice place for them too.

At this spot there is also a lot of kite surfing, so if you have one; bring it with you! So we brought the bikes and from here we cycled into the center of Stavoren in 3 minutes. Ideal to explore the area even more! In Stavoren we get the stamp for our stamp card also at Marina haven, there where you also check in for staying at this camper place.

Workum, Hindeloopen and Bolsward

The next day, the third day for us, we first visit Workum. Also there you find a fine camper place, namely at camping SudersΓ©. Just outside the city, on almost walking distance of the beach you find this farm campsite. Lots of green, beautiful spacious places again and sheltered by all trees. It gives me an instant vacation feeling! The goats and chickens welcome us when we arrive, what a joy. You can also get your stamp here again, it is ready so we can stamp ourselves, how nice πŸ™‚

In Hindeloopen you will find the stamping post at the Skating Museum in the middle of the picturesque town. By the way, this museum is also worth checking out. What love and attention is put into it! And when you get your stamp there you will feast your eyes on all those beautiful products (many handmade) and souvenirs. A treat if you love Friesland πŸ™‚

In Bolsward we get our last stamp at “De Tiid,” a place that has just been renewed in the city and where, besides shopping and eating, you also imagine yourself in the city’s beautiful town hall. A vibrant place in other words! And then our trip is over, all the stamps are taken, the stamp card is full. We have made it! What a beautiful experience this is, this camper self-city tour. We have enjoyed it!

Lydia from Ontdek Je Plekje also rode the Camperelfstedentocht. She wrote several blogs about her camper trip! In this article she tells more about the stamping posts and camper places.
